Peace Church is . . . a place where everyone is welcome, people care about one another, and mission work is a priority.

Programs

At Peace we have everything from music to service to adult Sunday school to youth group. Would you like to serve? We have got a mission for that. If you'd like to sing or ring the hand bells or bring your guitar/harp/steel drums in for special music? We have got a place for you! Would you like your kids to engage in worship and in their own special programs? We have you covered! Would you have a gift for fundraising or board management or stewardship campaigns? Your gifts matter to us!

Children Programing Welcomes PreK through Third Grade Children

Children at Peace church are valued!

Kids have a voice at Peace Church. Here we engage them in worship, with a special children's message and a dedicated minister who delivers theology in kid-sized bits.

We engage them during worship when they go out after children?s message to be in children?s church where they have their own bulletin and volunteer teachers who help them explore the day?s Bible lesson using a high quality curriculum.

Kids of all ages are invited to TEAM Peace, our arts and music program which meets most Sundays after worship. Kids have special events to stage, perform in, attend and help plan.

Our youth (middle and high school) meet throughout the school year for youth group, service projects, and fellowship. We talk about God, Christ, Spirit, Scripture and how it all fits in with our daily lives.

We have confirmation programs for high school and older youth looking to explore what it means to be a person of faith, and make a personal faith statement, in the Christian tradition and within the United Church of Christ.

And we have a nursery for our youngest visitors and members where they can safely play, nap (yes, even cry a bit) while we conduct worship.

Adults

Peace Choir Singing

Our adult Sunday school meets regularly to explore Scripture, social justice, church history and spirituality. We are sometimes lead by a knowledgeable guide, other times we are more like a book club, reading and discerning together. Either way, we are always striving to deepen our faith understanding in the hour before worship, 9 am to 10 am most Sundays.

We have many committees and task forces under our congregational life chair who organize fellowship and potlucks and parties, and also meet to craft and fellowship over a meal around town. We send cards to congregants to celebrate birthdays and back-to-school days. We visit the sick and the shut-in, and we decorate the church every Christmas at the hanging of the greens. Of course, that’s not all, but you’ll need to come by and see what else we get up to.

Missions

For over 30 years Peace UCC has served at the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission on the fourth Sunday of the month. We take pride in our sloppy joes and our smiling servers. For the last year, Peace UCC has coordinated POP|UP, that is, Parents of Preschoolers|Upbuilding, a support group for parents and caretakers of little ones.

And in between we have supported Growing Hope Globally, Fort Wayne Pride, Community Harvest Food Bank, Crossroad Child and Family Services, Mission House and so much more. We are always looking for folks passionate about sustaining our missions, and folks passionate about exploring new ways to serve God’s people because Christ has served us. Our call to missions is dynamic and committed, how about you?

Music

Peace UCC Choir

Whether it’s our organist, our pianist, a visiting musician, or the voices of the kids or ringing of the bells, music is a big part of what we do. Our choir sings traditional and contemporary choral arrangements as anthems and special music during worship. Our bell choir often plays on significant Sundays in the life of the church. We welcome any adult, of any ability, to join the choir, no experience necessary. Got the music in you? Tell us about it, we’ll find a way for you to share that with the church.

More

We have events that occur throughout the year to which everyone is welcome: Breakfast with Santa, the Holiday Bazaar, supporting our booth at Fort Wayne Pride Fest, and periodic community events and fundraisers. When we aren’t hosting community-wide celebrations, look for our church and preschool events like our Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday; our special worship services like our first Sunday in January contemplative worship or our children’s Sunday worship where the kids lead the way. We also partner with other churches to promote fun events and times of shared prayer and meditation.
